MEDIATURGY?

GOLDOR $ MYTHYKA co-video designer Jared Mezzocchi is at the forefront of a growing field, creating a whole new approach to the use of media in theater — and boy do we need it for a play in which video cues are vital to the storytelling (which is why Jared is getting everyone up to speed on MEDIATURGY!).

Indeed, in G$M video operates in continuous dialogue with the actors’ work onstage, taking on a life of its own, like a supplementary character — or a whole extra cast!  Jared (and co-designer Piama Habibullah) have been part of G$M since THE GERM PROJECT in 2011, and we couldn’t do it without them.  We’ve all learned so much already, and can’t wait to see more more more of how they make Bart and Holly’s story come alive.

Check out this AMAZING article about Jared and his work in the Washington Post!  And be prepared to see all that cool cooliness we’re talking about come April…

“In conversations with directors, I always say, ‘Let’s put aside the need for it, let’s talk about the story,’ ” Mezzocchi said. “I’ll say, ‘This is what media wants in this scene. How does media get it?’ I use the vocabulary of the actor.”
